4/1/24 Student Update

Hello Cambridge College Students,

 

Spring is here, and so is the time to think about your summer classes because registration starts today! We know picking classes might not be as fun as planning summer vacations, but it's important for getting one step closer to graduation. Don't forget, your advisor or success coach is here to help you figure it all out. They can help you pick the right classes that fit into your schedule, whether you want to be on campus, join live online, or do your work whenever you want with online courses. Let's make this summer productive and fun!

 

Graduation is also just around the corner, and it's a milestone you won't want to miss. Here's what you need to know:

 

The Cambridge College 53rd Commencement Ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the Leader Bank Pavilion, 290 Northern Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts, at 4:00 PM. All graduates must arrive no later than 2:30 PMDoors open at 3:00 PM for the public and guests of participants. As you continue to work hard to meet your goals for this semester, don’t forget all the great, free resources Cambridge College offers to support you! Click here to view the Academic Success Center on MyCC. CC professional tutors provide amazing support to all students in the areas of writing, research, math, statistics, Excel, accounting, understanding the assignment, reading comprehension, and more! If you are unable to attend a tutoring appointment you have made, please cancel the appointment 24 hours before so that other students will have access to that time.

We will briefly introduce our library resources and services, including reference 24/7 and APA guides for citing sources. There will also be an opportunity for questions. Paraphrasing, Quoting, and Summarizing in Academic Writing

As you work on your papers and projects, it’s important to know when and how to paraphrase, quote, and summarize. CC Learning Specialist Leah Barcan will help you practice these skills while making progress on your own assignments. We will also review ways to keep track of sources so you don’t waste time trying to find them later, and we will touch on how to make doing APA citations easier. Write Great Sentences!

CC Professional Tutor Joel Krikorian will talk about common mistakes people make in writing sentences in academic work and share tips and tricks that will greatly improve the quality of your writing. Do you want to learn more about the art of networking? Networking allows you to meet new people in your field and learn about new opportunities. You never know when one of your contacts will have a lead on a great job or be able to introduce you to someone who can help further your career. Networking is also essential for keeping up with industry trends and developments. If you are ready to improve your networking skills, then this is the workshop for you! This workshop is facilitated by CC CCPD Career Services Manager Irina Galatskaya, who is a great resource! There will also be an opportunity for questions during the workshop. English Conversation Group

Our English Conversation Group is designed to help English language learners practice conversational skills in a safe and structured environment. English Conversation Group meets virtually via Zoom every Thursday (except federal holidays). There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.
